Mobile services are offered by Etisalat and Du Telecom, whereas landline services are offered largely by Etisalat except for a few pockets in Dubai that are serviced by Du Telecom. Similarly internet is offered largely by Etisalat except for a few pockets of Dubai which is serviced by Du Telecom.

 

The mobile infrastructure is GSM based and options available are both prepaid as well as post paid. There are special packages available for tourist and the only document required is your passport with your visa copy. In case of a permanent connection you need a residence visa.

 

In case of internet, there a number of options available such as Wi-Fi hotspots, dial up internet as well as broadband. The lead time between application and installation is very short and service quiet efficient.

There are a number of cyber cafes that offer internet browsing for a charge ranging from 4 Dirham to 10 Dirham depending on the location and ambience offered.
