Dubai
is working overtime to keep pace with its transportation needs. The rapid pace
of growth in economy has resulted in an influx in people, both tourist and
expat labour force.
The
transport infrastructure comprising of roads, bridges, flyovers and tunnels is
witnessing a continuous change. In fact, it is very difficult to get a map that
has the latest changes as the infrastructure is every changing. Dubai is in the
process of building a world class rail system called the Dubai Metro that is
expected to meet their growing transport needs.
Currently
the public transport system comprises of public buses and taxis which are
unable to cater to the growing needs. The public bus service is hindered by the
inadequate routes, traffic jams and hot weather that make waiting for a bus an
uncomfortable experience. Taxis, the other option too are plagued by inadequate
supply as most of the taxis tend to get caught in traffic jams.
The
transport scene is bound to improve with number of improvements being carried
out by the Dubai Government such as flyover, additional roads, bridges, etc.that are being built.
